Meet the Lovely Carly of A Walk in the Park

Next up is Carly of A Walk in the Park! She is a Florida girl that takes the most lovely pictures ever and her style is the greatest! ...Think vintage...

Without further ado, everyone meet Carly!

1. If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

If I were a tree, I think I would be a Weeping Willow. I don't really know why, but I guess I'm only saying that because they're my favorite kind of tree. I think they're so elegant and beautiful!

2. Which Disney princess would you want to be for a day?

Ariel. She's always been my favorite, she's just so happy and colorful! When I was little, I can remember saying I always wanted to be a mermaid when I grew up also...so to be Ariel for a day would be awesome! Haha!
3. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall?

Fall, because I love the colors, patterns and of course layering! Everything is at its best during fall in my opinion....fashion, food, weather, all so good!

4. If you were to design a clothing line, what would your inspiration be?

I would be most inspired by Audrey Hepburn and Zooey Deschanel's styles. Many classic pieces, kitten heels and A-line dresses would be in my clothing line!

5. You're hosting a dinner party, where would it be and what's on the menu?

Hm...that's a tough one. I would probably have it on a roof top in NYC, and I would probably serve French food, but I would have more pastries and coffee than actual dinner food. But I'd probably have some pizza and sushi being served also....yum.

Fall in the Northwest

These photos look like it is spring or summer and not fall. I love love love the northwest but during this season, I kind of wish I lived on the east coast. Their forests are primarily deciduous trees while ours are evergreen. Fall color is sparse around here while entire forests are changing colors over there. During this season, if you drive through the mountains it will still be green with little dots of red, yellow or orange. One day I'll make it over there during this season to admire the colors.

Shop Pretty Lovely

Happy Monday! I wanted to let you all know that I opened an Etsy shop! I often find that it is hard to find bows that are anything but a plain color. Lately I have been looking for plaid or flannel ones for this season and havent found any that I like, so I decided to make some. Spring and summer arent the only seasons to wear bows in your hair, so with the changing seasons, I want to provide bows to you using that as my inspiration. Right now, you can find some fall florals and burgundy gingham patterns. Later tonight you can find some flannel and there is a special one just for Halloween. Hope you guys check it out and like what you see! Let me know if there is one that you have been looking for and cannot find! I would be be happy to help you out!

The colors of fall

Fall is the only season where I find myself gravitating to certain colors more so than others. Burgundy or plum or whatever you want to call that deep purple color is definitely a favorite for this season. It is currently on my nails, the majority of the time on my lips and sweaters in this color are oh so good. Deep, dark colors for this season (not necessarily black) are perfect in general. The dark colors make me feel cozier and set the the perfect atmosphere for a night in watching a movie with the fire going. I am currently on the hunt for dark or burnt orange clothing items. That one can carry you through Thanksgiving and right now I would love some tights or a chunky cable-knit sweater n that shade.

Meet the Lovely Courtney of 114º West

Today I am starting a new series where I feature some of my favorite bloggers and introduce them to you! (in case you havent already found them yourself) First on the list is Courtney of 114º West! She is another northwest girl residing in the gorgeous state of Montana. I asked her some questions to get to know her better, so without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to Courtney!

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

If I were a tree I would be a Tamarack Tree. This is a type of tree that is found in my local area of Montana. During the warm summer months it looks a lot like a pine tree with green needles. But as fall starts to come the needles turn a beautiful shade of mustard yellow creating a vibrant fall backdrop for the mountains.

Which Disney princess would you want to be for a day?

I grew up in the princess generation. Watching either the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin almost every day. So I would have to say Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Especially when she wears the yellow dress, I think that dress is my dream outfit!
Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall?

I was always that nerdy girl who looked forward to the first day of school and buying new folders and pencils. I love how fall has a feeling of excitement and newness to it. Montana is beautiful during the fall, the leaves changing color and the weather turning colder always brings a joy to my heart. Also being able to wear boots, flannels and scarfs are a huge plus! :)

If you were to design a clothing line, what would your inspiration be?

My inspiration would be my town and the area I live in. I truly believe that Whitefish is one of the most beautiful places in the country and love the relaxed natural vibe that comes from this place. From skiing to hiking I would want to capture our ability to look unique and creative yet totally functional.  I love oranges, browns, turquoise and very earthy natural colors. Also the prints of the west would be my largest inspirations. We are surrounded by native and western prints which are some of my favorites.

You're hosting a dinner party, where would it be and whats on the menu?

Lately I have wanted to host a champagne and s'mores party! I know right? So much fun, so it would be held in a wooded area with a fire pit, definitely with lanterns and blankets on every chair (it is starting to get cold in Montana at night)!  I think it would be fun to have champagne served in mason jars and s'mores on campfire plates. The menu would be very simple, marshmallows, fancy chocolate, and gram crackers. To drink we would have champagne with lemonade as mixer! Jordyn if I do this you have to come over from Washington and hang out with us Montana girls!

Ok. How amazing does that party sound!?

Stevens Hall || A Ghost Story

This past week I was back at WSU visiting the boyfriend and hanging out on campus. So in honor of the new month that we are in, I thought I would visit the haunted hall on campus and let you in on its story. This is Stevens Hall, I actually lived in this hall my sophomore year of college and my mom also lived in this one while she went to school here. This is the second oldest building on campus, completed in the summer of 1895 and has been in continuous use since then, besides in 1958 when it was closed for rehabilitation. This hall is the oldest operating residence hall west of the Mississippi River.
In 1971, Joyce LePage would go in and out of this building while it was closed for the summer through a window. This is where she would hang out by herself, write letters and play the piano. July 22, 1971 was the last day she was seen alive. She disappeared. While the custodians were going through all the residence halls cleaning them for the summer, Stevens was the last one on their list. When they entered the building they noticed a five-foot-by-six-foot area of carpet missing from the main living room. They wrote it up as vandalism and forgot about it. They opened a room on the basement level of the hall and found blood splattered on the back corner of the room.
Police connected the blood with that of the missing person, Joyce LePage. A couple of months later a body was found, 10 miles out of town in a deep ravine, wrapped in a piece of 5 by 6 foot carpet. The same carpet missing from Stevens Hall. It was the missing girl. She had been stabbed multiple times in the ribs.
The ladies that live in this dorm, especially those that live in the basement report doors opening and closing on their own, strange noises and screams. I wasnt in the basement that often when I lived there, but when I was, you better believe I was in and out in a hurry. No messing around from me. I never had any ghostly encounters and neither did my mom. If you walked in this building, you would quickly see that this is the perfect setting for a ghost to hang out. The furniture looks like it is from the 1900s and some of it probably is. It is a little creepy walking around. FULL of character and if only these walls could talk. The stories they would tell...
