Layering

One of the reasons I started this blog was to get myself to experiment more with my clothes and force myself to put pieces together I wouldn't normally put together. I tend to find outfits that work and stick to those outfits with the same exact pieces. Now I know that wearing a sweater over a dress isn't exactly a new thing, but I do believe this is the first time I have done this. I love layering pieces together and the fashion blog community is so perfect for getting inspiration. I especially love how Courtney from Always Rooney layers her outfits. I love all of the texture and depth her outfits have. Layered outfits are just so much more interesting I think.

A Little Afternoon Trip

These pictures were also taken at home and on this particular day we travelled up to Bellingham for the afternoon to visit my brother. Lets begin with the drive up. It's about an hour and a half drive from where I live and it is one of my favorites. You go through farm country and then through some evergreen forests, which as you read in my last post, I love. Bellingham itself is surrounded by these forests and also water. That's a win win situation. It is absolutely gorgeous there. It is the perfect place to spend a day or an afternoon with plenty of little shops and cafes or restaurants all within walking distance of one another to keep you busy. If you live in the area, I definitely recommend making the visit there if you haven't already.

The Great Pacific Northwest

I got to go home for the long weekend and it was much needed and oh so very nice. Now dont get me wrong, I like eastern Washington where I go to school, but I LOVE western Washington so much more. It's home. Things are just more alive, I feel so much better on the west side. I love how green everything is and the constant rain. It is so calming and comforting. I love the evergreen forests that go on for days and don't disappear with the seasons. I love the snow peaked mountains on the horizon with the most gorgeous blue sky you have ever seen above them. I love the crisp foggy mornings that turn into beautiful afternoons. And I love my doggy Bentley. There is no place else I would rather live than the great Pacific Northwest.

Valentines Day || Night Out

Still wondering what to wear for Valentines day? This outfit would be perfect for a night out at the movies with friends or just a casual date. The red pants (which are so so comfortable) are that perfect pop of Valentines day red and I wanted to pair it with something sweet, so I chose this lace top and gold bow belt. I think gold is the underrated color of this holiday. It goes perfectly with pink red and white and yet you don't see much of it this time of the year. Now I didn't want to be a walking Valentine, so I toned everything down with the leather jacket and black flats. You still have your traditional Valentines Day wear, but not overdone. Valentines Day || Night In

As everyone is well aware of, Valentines Day is this Thursday. Yep. This Thursday. So whether or not you have a Valentine I have some outfit inspiration for you guys. Today, this is something I would wear for a casual night in with friends, maybe watching movies and playing games. Be sure to check back later this week for some inspiration if you have a casual date or even a more fancier one with that someone special. So for this outfit I just went with some comfortable black skinnies and Toms for the bottom half. I wanted something a little festive (cue the pink) and fun (time to shine, polka dots) and comfy. This sweater was perfect. Still Valentinesy but not overdone.

Constructing Your Masterpiece

There is something about leather. Even when paired with a floral dress, it just says 'Don't mess with me.' At least that's what I feel when I wear leather. Nothing can get in my way that day, I can conquer anything that crosses my path. That's what I love about clothes. They can change your outlook on the day and when you get that perfect outfit, when every piece magically comes together, and the finished look is a piece of art that may as well have its own spot in the Louvre, well... you best set out and go for that biggest dream of yours that day because it will be achieved. With you feeling as good as you look, nothing will stop you.

On the Palouse

In eastern Washington, the wind is a constant battle. I mean a CONSTANT battle. One that you will not win if you have hair longer than a buzz cut. That made taking pictures on this particular day very difficult. In probably three quarters of the pictures taken my hair was a big mass in front of my face, completely uncontrollable. On the up side I found this new spot to take pictures while riding the bus home from class one day. These hills go on for miles and miles and make for quite the pretty backdrop.

February Wishlist

I'm obviously wishing for Spring and Summer with this wishlist. Loving everything that is mint and light pink right now and have wanted a satchel like this for quite some time and this is the perfect color.
