The Oxford Saloon Ghost

I couldn't go through October without showing you at least one haunted place! The Oxford saloon is in my hometown of Snohomish, Wa. Snohomish has a lot of old buildings built in the late 1800's, with the majority of them keeping the old facade and lots and lots of antique stores, its like walking back in time when you visit First Street.
When the Oxford first opened it was Blackman's Dry Goods store. It remained like that for about a decade when it then became a saloon. It changed owners and uses over the years but ultimately became a saloon one last time. There was a mens card room in the in the basement that often held a lot of fights along with the bar. There was a policeman named Henry at the time that often frequented the Oxford. A fight broke out and Henry stepped in to try and break it up but was knifed to death in the process. He has yet to leave the Oxford.
He hangs out around the stairs and has been seen and felt in the Womens restroom. Many report being pinched by him. The saloon has been a place for many ghost investigations beginning in 2005. During one of these investigations, photos were taken from the basement looking up the stairs. One of the photos appears to have a man standing on the stairs looking up
Do you believe in ghosts or have any experiences of your own? True ghost stories are some of my favorite but absolutely terrify me. Tell me yours, I may not want to read it but I will because I can't help myself.

Fall Pamper Night Routine

I figured this would be a good time to share my Pamper routine to give you some inspiration for Saturday. Friday night is going to be a long one for some of us and we might need to recharge the next day. This is what I will be doing after I get done laying on the couch for the majority of the day :)

I begin by removing any makeup I may be wearing with my boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil. This is a game changer. I used to remove my makeup with towelettes and decided to give cleansing oil a try. I love it and don't think I will be returning to towels anytime soon. It is so much more gentle on my skin. No more of the tugging from the towels. I highly recommend you try it. Next I go in with my Clarasonic Mia and my Clinique Liquid Facial Soap to really cleanse the face.

I like to take a bath and really relax on these nights. I will use a bath bomb or bubble bar from Lush to add a little something extra and plus its fun watching the bath bomb dissolve and change the color of the water. Before I get in, I will grab a big glass of water and put a face mask on. I just got the boscia Bright White Mask. I have only used it once, so I can't really say anything about it. Light a candle, watch some Youtube videos or read a book and just relax… Before I get out I will exfoliate with the Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish.

After I am done soaking it is time to take off the mask and go in with a toner and face lotion from Clinique. After this, my skin is feeling amazing and I am refreshed

What do you use on these types of nights where you want to refresh your skin and just relax? I am always looking for new products to try out.
Thanks for reading!

A Night of Favorites

Friday night was SUCH a good night. One of my favorites. Last Monday, my boyfriend surprised me with tickets to see my favorite Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, on Broadway and reservations to a restaurant I have been wanting to eat at since last year. I mean, how did I get so lucky? He works in the Seattle so I met him at Pikes Place Market after he got off work. If you didn't know, Seattle has a gum wall. An entire wall filled with layers and layers of gum. Gross I know, but it makes for a good photo background. I had never seen it before Friday night and we had a couple of minutes to spare before our reservations so we decided to take a look and get these photos taken while it was still light out.
Dinner was at the Pink Door. So. Good. Let me just say that it is my new favorite restaurant. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. Its a place that has no sign outside or any indication that it is a restaurant at all. It is just a pink door hidden in an alley. Anything I say about it, really wouldn't do it justice, so I suggest you read about it. Italian, American food, cabaret lounge and trapeze artists hanging above you.
Then, of course, the show. A lot better than I was expecting. For some reason, I wasn't expecting it to be like the movie but it was! Same songs and pretty much same lines, word for word. I loved it! Just made me wish I could be Belle all over again. I almost felt like her wearing this tulle skirt around. Its my new absolute favorite. I got it specifically for this show, I just don't know why it took me so long to get a tulle skirt! I need one in every color now. I just really want to wear it everyday…

So, what did you do this weekend? Halloween is this Friday, what are you guys being!? I think I know, but haven't quite committed to it yet..

Fall Transitions

Now that fall is here in full force (nothing but rain in the forecast here), it is time to officially put away all of those summer colors and transition them into the darker fall tones. My favorite! One of my favorites for this time of year would have to be a deep evergreen color. My Washington love coming out once again. I think what I most look forward to are the dark polishes I get to wear again. I have to look at them all spring and summer and wish and then once October comes around my nails go black.
Every year Julep has some amazing dark, autumnal nail polish colors to choose from. They have been kind enough to send over this infograph to help you transition some of your favorite summer colors into fall ones. I am in the process of transitioning and working with my summer, blue/purple hair and making it work for fall. Luckily the purple is completely gone and the blue has sort of turned into a teal/green color which works with the dark evergreen color I love for right now. I think I will have to snatch up Roc Solid before to long!
What colors are your favorite for this time of year? While I do love, LOVE the dark colors I also have my eye on Juleps Clara. I think that would be so perfect for later on this season and early winter.

I hope you all have been having a great October month, filled with tons of pumpkin patches, haunted houses and candy. I will see you next week!

Flora Focus || Katsuratree aka Cotton Candy Tree

Its been quite awhile since I have done a Flora Focus post and although this isn't a flower I really wanted to tell you about this tree! I briefly introduced it to you last fall in an outfit post and have been getting some blog views by people searching "tree that smells like cotton candy" so here is the full meet and greet post. Yes, Katsuratree really does smell like cotton candy when the leaves turn brown and fall. When I went to cut these branches, I was bombarded with the sweetest smell you would ever smell from a tree. The fall color is a vibrant yellow. You can easily spot it from far away. I really hope you have one of these trees near you so you can experience this.

Katsuratree
Botanical Name: Cercidiphyllum japonicum
Leaf: Rounded leaves with a point on the end. The margin (edges) has rounded teeth. Green in the summer and orangeish-yellow in the fall. Smells like cotton candy in the fall.

Have you gotten to experience this tree before? If not, I hope you get to soon!

Halloween Eyes | Tutorial

Halloween is creeping up on us pretty fast now and I don't know about you, but I have been wearing spider earrings, skeleton bows and anything else I can associated with this scary day. That includes a little darker eye than usual. So, I've got a simple Halloween eyes tutorial for you today. I want to make it super clear that I am not a makeup artist, I have no training what so ever in this subject. I probably put the products on in the wrong order or didn't use the right technique. Im just showing something that I came up with while playing around. So, here we go!

Start by priming your eyes so your eyeshadow stays put.
Place a bright orange shadow all over your lids. I used one from the Coastal Scents Shimmer Palette. Really pack it on, so a little pops through when you put the black on.
Next I used Nars Night Breed in the outer corner of my eye and blended that into the crease.
To brighten the inner corners, I used a lighter orange from the same Coastal Scents Palette and also placed that underneath my bottom lashes.
I took some more of the black shadow and blended that underneath the outer half of my bottom lashes and made sure to really blend it with the lighter orange. Make sure to keep the black to the outer half of the lashes.
To help soften the black in the crease and underneath the brow, I took a light cream color and blended it with the black. Blend. Blend. Blend.
Next I used an Urban Decay black eyeliner in my waterline and a liquid eyeliner on my eyelids. I would have created a cat eye, but my eyelids don't allow me to do that :(
Finish off with some mascara and you are done!
If you don't like the typical Halloween colors, you could easily use purple or green or any other color you wanted with the black.

Let me know if you create this look! I would love to know how it goes! Do you want to see more tutorials? This was my first one and I kind of enjoyed it.

L & G Wedding Florals

This weekends wedding was a complete success. I hope you want to look at tons of photos because that is what I have for you :) The bride wanted very loose, organic feeling arrangements in green foliage, purple dahlias and white roses. Her bouquet consisted only of 50 white roses and was so gorgeous. Not my typical style but looked amazing with her and the theme of her wedding. I am super happy with how everything turned out! Hopefully I will be getting the professional photos so I can share those with you as well, these should hold you over until then. Enjoy!
