Searching for that Yellow

This last weekend, Brent and I took a drive up north to check out all of the daffodil fields that are blooming right now. It is so neat, driving around, not knowing where exactly the fields are but just looking for fields of pure yellow. That is exactly how we found them. I think it would be so amazing to live in a farmhouse around here and drive by these flowers every day or even have them in your backyard! Driving by these fields just makes me want to have a cutting garden of my own even more. Hopefully soon!

Snow!?

So, true story. A couple mornings ago, I woke up and looked out the window and thought, "Oh! It snowed!" I quickly realized that the tree outside my window did not have any snow on it, but it was covered in flowers! I wrote a little post about this flowering tree at the end of March last year. This tree is blooming a full month ahead of schedule. And not long after that post I was in a field of daffodils which are already blooming too.

This little house in the background is also the one that we are planning to redo and make into a more suitable working space. Imagine a big deck on the front and sliding barn like doors on the front to completely open up the studio. I will definitely keep you updated on everything that is happening with it. Hopefully it won't be too long before things get started.

Spring is Here!

I really feel kind of bad for writing this post, knowing that most of you are buried in snow. Here in Washington, we are having very spring like weather. Daffodils are blooming, tulips won't be too far behind them and the trees are already flowering! I am really not ready for this yet. But I really couldn't be happier. January and February have got be the most uninspiring months for me. They are in between the holidays and the beginning of spring. That has got to be tough for them. So here I am in a bright butterfly dress and shopping for flowers! I hope the rest of you get weather like this very, very soon.

Discovery Park Hike

We have been getting some unseasonable great weather here lately. Lots of sun and relatively warm weather. Perfect for getting out and about. I made a goal this year to go on at least one hike each month in 2015 and a couple weeks ago, Brent and I went to Discovery Park which is minutes from downtown Seattle. We wanted to go somewhere close since we are working on limited daylight. We hiked to this lighthouse which overlooks Puget Sound, with views of both the Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges. My favorite being the view of Mount Rainier. I love Seattle so much, because of where it is located. We get both beaches and mountains just minutes from us. I can't wait to explore more this year.

Buckets of Blooms

I got my hands on some flowers this week! I spent ALL of yesterday playing with them and taking tons of photos. Portfolio building is really fun guys! Creating bouquets and bridesmaids bouquets, taking those apart and making little posies for the moms, then making those into little cocktail arrangements. Styling a table as if it was at a wedding. Making boutonnieres, corsages and flower crowns. Large centerpieces, small centerpieces. Anything that you would want at a wedding, I am making from one small bunch of flowers. I hope you want to see pictures :)

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

We made it back to the conservatory in time to see it decorated for Christmas! They had one full house filled with poinsettias, a gorgeous tree and a train going around the center of it. Im really glad we made the time to go. And how amazing is this sweater?! I found it deep in my moms closet and just fell in love with it. I wish I could wear it all year.
I hope you all have a fun and relaxing day!

Our Christmas Tree

During this time of year, I love just sitting around the tree and looking at all of the lights and the ornaments and remembering the stories and times that go with each one. The only thing that would make it better is if there was snow falling outside, but we don't get much of that stuff here. I love the look of the trees with all of the same baubles and also love the trees that don't have 2 of the same ornaments. This tree has ornaments that are over 30 years old, each one bringing you back to a time before. I love that I can remember putting up the same ornaments back when I was five years old.
