Sun & Snow

Last week was freezing here! It looked like spring but you didn't want to step outside without eve layers on. Its so deceiving. It finally warmed up to the low 30s and we got SNOW yesterday! If it only it would stick around for more than half a day. It just looks ugly when it is half melted and the roads are nothing but slush. Either melt all the way or (preferably) snow some more. Please snow more.

The Year of Life \\ Sponsor Spotlight

Today I am here to introduce to you lovely people the lady that has been hanging out on the top of my sidebar over there this month! Everyone meet Jenna from the lovely blog The Year of Life! Being on top of the sidebar means that she gets her own special post so you guys can get to know her a little better and make a new friend! Everyone likes making new friends, right? Without further ado, everyone I introduce you to Jenna!
Describe The Year of Life to us.
~A the start of the year I decided that I really wanted to make some changes for 2014. This year is about being present in my life and saying YES to new things! The blog is sort of my online journal for this - a place to document moments and to talk about whatever has my attention! I have also created a 28 by 28 list which is a list of things i want to do/achieve by the time I turn 28 next January so that is something that will be heavily featured on the blog.

Where do you find your inspiration?
~Everywhere! I am constantly inspired by the world around me,  by other bloggers and also by the people in my life.

I see you have a 28 by 28 list but what are some items on your bucket list?
~So many things! At the moment they are all travel related. Here are a few:
See the Northern Lights from Norway or Iceland, do an African Safari, backpack around Europe with my Husband for 3-6 months, swim with Beluga whales in Canada. There are so many things I want to see and experience all around the world!

You can also find her on Instagram and Twitter. Go say hi!
Thanks Jenna for hanging out with me this month!

Do you want a whole post dedicated to you and your blog or shop? All you have to do is purchase a large ad here! Simple and cheap. GREAT way to get your blog noticed to new readers. You can also purchase the medium ad and be featured in a group spotlight post if having the whole spotlight isn't your thing. :)

Old Family Photos

A couple of days ago my mom brought in a big chest of old family photos and asked me to organize them. She didn't have to ask me twice. One of my favorite things to do is look through old pictures or watch old home movies. I am very fortunate that my family definitely has no shortage in that area. My brothers and I may have hated it at the time but my dad was constantly taking pictures of all of our family vacations. Let me tell you it was annoying, but I am so unbelievably happy he never stopped and insisted on all of those pictures in front of every national park sign we went by.
It really got me thinking about my pictures and how they are all on some sort of electronic device. That did not sit well with me. My kids won't be able to sit down and look through boxes upon boxes of old pictures like I am able to do right now. One of these days, soon, Im going to have to sit down and print out my pictures I have on my computer, my phone and USBs. I just love the thought of having multiple boxes filled with my pictures. There for me to look at whenever I want. And for anybody else to look at.

So you probably want to know what and who these pictures are of. I would.
1. A pile of pictures of me with my mom and grandma and some of my brothers.
2. Me in our backyard.
3. My dad when he was a kid.
4. My mom and my older brother. This was a really neat pack of black and white photos.
5. Top left- Me sitting on our steps, "posing" for the camera.
Top right- Christmas morning! With my older brothers and cousin.
Bottom left- My mom and dad back in the day.
Bottom right- The day my little brother was born, 23 years ago tomorrow! (Feb. 5) Happy                      Birthday Reed!!
6. My mom at the farm.
7. My oldest brother. This was a whole stack of polaroids. Instantly made me want a polaroid camera.
8. My dad and I and my new teddy bear on Christmas morning.

I loved looking through these photos. Especially the ones of my mom and dad before they were married and of my older brothers as kids before I was around. Thanks for taking a peak at my past!

La Conner, Washington

Friday afternoon, after having a very long overdue lunch with a friend, I headed up to La Conner to take these pictures. It was my first time taking photos out in the open with anybody who wanted to watch and wonder what I was doing was free to do. But it didn't seem to weird which was nice. Probably because everyone who did come by was also taking pictures of the bridge in these photos. So they all probably thought I was doing the same. We'll let them think that.
La Conner is a cute little marina town on the Swinomish Channel off of the Puget Sound. Its been a long time since I have walked up and down the main street that is lined with shops. I was only there long enough to take these pictures before it got dark out. I would really like to go back now and spend an afternoon there.

Pink & Polka Dots

I feel like this is a good casual Valentines Day outfit. You've got the bright, festive pink and the fun polka dot skirt, all toned down with the denim jacket. When I was thinking about this outfit, I thought I should save it until closer to Valentines Day but I couldn't wait. I really wanted to wear it. Today. For some reason. Do you ever get those feelings where you think of an outfit and just can't wait to wear it. It is the worst when you think of a summer outfit in the middle of winter. You know what I mean?

Sunsets & A Giveaway!

I think this might be the first time I have taken pictures at sunset. I usually get them done first thing in the morning, then I can carry on with my day. I guess I don't like waiting around for it and worry about if it will start raining or not. Or maybe its cloudy all the time so we don't get sun like this very often. I think that might change now after seeing how these turned out. The light is amazing. But that might not happen for awhile. Rain in the forecast…

Now for the giveaway! Im co-hosting a fitness giveaway over on Brittneys blog True Vintage Love. Head on over to be included in the giveaway. There will be THREE winners!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Anybody else love The Sound of Music as much as I do? Anyways, these are just a couple of things I have been loving lately.
This dress I got from Rome. Its gorgeous. It has been hanging on my wall since I got home and when the light hits is just right it sparkles. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, its kind of fragile and snags on things but one day.
This box of postcards I got from Modcloth. All old educational posters from 50s and 60s I believe. Also in french. They are so fun to look at.
Flower seeds! Hopefully I will get the greenhouse cleaned in time! I've started, so thats a plus. I ordered these Territorial Seed Company online. You can't find the unusual flower seeds in stores so I resort to the internet. I like to request the free seed catalog and sit and look at it and daydream. Its the best.
I am loving EVERYTHING woodland right now. I hope that love doesn't go away anytime soon. Add twinkle lights and that just takes this love to a whole new level.
